One of Cascade Subaru's community partnerships is with the Alatheia Riding Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with special needs through equine therapy.

Born from a combined love of horses and children, Alatheia Riding Center demonstrates the power of equine-based therapy by providing a unique opportunity for movement not available in other settings. The Alatheia Riding Center was Cascade's 2014 Subaru Share the Love local charities.

About Alatheia Riding Center

Alatheia Riding Center is a non-profit therapeutic riding center, affiliated with PATH (Professional of Therapeutic Horsemanship), formally NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association), and NFHR (The Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry),

Rather than emphasizing riding skills, therapeutic riding uses the movement of the horse as a tool to improve the balance, strength, and coordination of the rider, resulting in increased independence with daily functional activities such as walking. Alatheia has served riders from age 3 to age 73.

Alatheia Horses

Alatheia's exceptional equine team is a key element to the succes of the riding center's therapeutic program. Alatheia features Norwegian Fjord horses, which are well known for being calm, friendly, surefooted, and trustworthy. Each one of these beautiful animals has a unique personality. Alatheia horses very quickly endear themselves to their riders.

Alatheia Relies on
Community Support

Riders pay a fee that is well below Alatheia's actual cost of providing the lessons, so the center relies on donations to bridge the gap. Due to the high costs associated with caring for a child with special needs, almost half of Alatheia's families request financial assistance to participate in the program.

Alatheia also counts on the support of a dedicated and talented staff of volunteers.
